If you have been waiting to get a sneak peek into the upcoming Windows Phone Mango-powered handsets, here's one.

German site HTCInside claims it has information about an upcoming HTC smartphone which could be the company's first to come with the latest version of Microsoft Windows Phone 7.1 codenamed Mango.

Microsoft had in May unveiled an update of its Windows phone software, hoping to bridge the widening gap in smartphone race dominated by Google and Apple.

The update will reportedly bring over 500 new features, including Internet Explorer 9 as the mobile browser, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds integrated into contact cards, automated Facebook check-ins, and access to more than 17,000 downloadable applications.
According to the report, the release of HTC Eternity will probably coincide with the launch of Windows Phone 7.1 Mango which is due for launch in September.

Sporting a large 4.7-inch Super LCD display with 480 x 800 resolution, HTC Eternity will reportedly come with a single-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8255processor.

Other key specs expected to come include an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 720p video capture, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, up to 16GB internal memory, 512MB RAM and DLNA capabilities.

The smartphone is expected to feature GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS/HSDPA (up to 14.4 Mbps)/HSUPA (up to 5.76 Mbps) as well as WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a G-sensor, a digital compass and a gyroscope.

The phone comes with a 2.8 inch QVGA Capacitive touchscreen. The inclusion of GPS Maps is a wise idea, since many GPS cellphones available in India are handicapped since the user has to buy map software at additional cost to make use of the functionality. The touch phone comes with an instant messaging client, and supports IMAP, POP, SMTP email protocols. However, WiFi is notably absent in the Nokia XpressMusic 5800.

Is it just me or we Microsoft is doing a bad job at marketing its upcoming mobile platform? Sure the KIN ONE and TWO are Windows Phones but they aren’t really the smartphones we expect, are they? Windows Phone 7 handsets are coming this fall but by the time they actually make it in stores plenty of Sprint, AT&T and possibly Verizon subscribers will have purchased lots of HTC EVO 4G and iPhone 4 smartphones?

In all fairness to WP7 handsets, we have news of a potentially hot phone powered by Microsoft’s latest mobile platform. The device is made by HTC (who else) and it’s called the HTC Mondrian. What’s with the weird phone names, HTC? Fortunately this codename can be easily explained: Mondrian was a Dutch painter whose work is fairly similar to that Metro UI you’ll find on future Windows Phone 7 handsets.

Introduction
Compact but capable, subdued but edgy, old but new. That’s the HTC Gratia. With Froyo greasing the cogs, the European version of the HTC Aria is more than a name change – this petite droid is getting ready to storm the Old Continent.

The Android world is in a stage where big screens make the grade, which makes it frustratingly hard for people who like their droid in a small package. The compact Gratia comes with a 3.2” screen and is noticeably smaller than competing phones with the same display diagonal.
Before we go on though, here’s the gist of what’s in store.

Despite the clean, simple lines, the Gratia is recognizable enough thanks to the signature screws on the back. Some might confuse it with the HD mini, which originated the look, but Android’s explosive popularity means that the Aria/Gratia phones have far surpassed their PocketPC cousin.

HTC have put their magic touch on the HTC Gratia interface – the Sense UI is elegant and highly usable, with special focus on social networking. The speed boost from running Froyo rather than Eclair is a major advantage and Flash support in the browser is relatively rare in the midrange.
The Gratia software is certainly one of the highlights but the hardware deserves praise as well. The phone is solidly built and feels sturdy in the hand, without being bulky or heavy.

While North America has set sight on CES in expectation of the HTC Thunderbolt 4G announcement, the rest of the world fears that it might be left out once again. Yet a newly leaked photo from a German online retailer's website suggests that we might just see a GSM-capable version of the Android beast.
According to the source the UMTS/LTE-packing Thunderbolt 4G will be available, somewhere in the middle of 2011 in the O2 and Vodafone networks.

However the screenshot lists many of the HTC Thunderbolt 4G specs that were so far unkown. The smartphone's Android version of choice is 2.3 Gingerbread and the CPU ticking inside is the 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 that just entered mass production.
What makes us quite suspicious is the mention of a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 128 GB. As you probably know under the current microSD standards such high-capacitiy cards simply cannot exist, the maximum being 32 GB. The 5 megapixel front-facing camera also doesn't seem quite believable.
Still we are willing to give this rumor the benefit of the doubt and hope for an announcement at MWC in February (or even CES).

The HTC 7 Mozart is not the kind we are used to meeting - and no, before you ask, it’s not a music-centric gadget as the name suggests. Something quite different in fact, it’s all about the camera that goes beyond Microsoft’s demanding specs.

So here we are again – reviewing another Windows Phone 7 device. Not that we mind though. And for a change, it’s not another case of struggling to put a face to a name.
We’ve been there already: the OS limitations and the ensuing deal-breakers are no news to you. If you have your sights set on Windows Phone 7 you probably know everything there is to know about it. There’s much to love about the Metro interface – and there’s no denying some things about Windows Phone 7 just could’ve been better. But if your glass is half full rather than half empty – there’s good news.
Microsoft are prepping the first Windows Phone 7 update, which will enable copy/paste and is supposed to bring some multitasking magic. It’s going to hit all WP7-based devices at the very beginning of next year.

HTC Desire HD gets Android 2.2.1 update

There's an update out for the HTC Desire HD but it's not the major update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread you might have hoped for. It's a tweak and bugfix update that bumps the Desire HD to Android 2.2.1, which reportedly brings improved performance too.

It's an Over The Air update weighing in at 40MB. It will update the HTC Desire HD to software version 1.72.405.3 and the Android version to 2.2.1, the latest available Froyo. Aside from fixing some bugs, the Desire HD is reported to run a little faster overall after the update.
The camera shows a much more noticeable improvement. It's now snappier and the HD recording has reportedly been improved as well.

There's not a peep from HTC about when the HTC Desire HD and their other droids will receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update though. That might take a while as HTC will have to port all sorts of custom goodies (including the extensive Sense UI, the fast boot magic, etc) to the latest version of Android OS.

The veiled HTC is back with another teaser - the upcoming LTE-enabled HTC phone has changed its name since the last time we saw it and now goes by HTC Thunderbolt 4G (it used to be Incredible HD).

That's not the first name change for this phone - it first leaked as Mecha through the HTCSense website, then about a week ago it was teased as the first 4G phone for the umpteenth time (though the other first '4G' phones are HSPA+ or WiMAX enabled, neither of which is strictly speaking what 4G).

Anyway, the name seems to be HTC Thunderbolt 4G and according to the gossip, it is heading to Verizon's new LTE network. And there's a confirmation that the veil will be lifted on January 6 as part of CES 2011. You can sign up to receive email updates on the Thunderbolt 4G if you want.

There is no price mentioned, but we guess it will be available on the carrier's standard deals with a two-year contract.
